About Tour

Slip on your favorite jacket and get ready for this fabulous, wholesome tour of the south coast where you will get to see every popular attraction ranging from glaciers, volcanoes, and waterfalls to black sand beaches and cute little villages. This south coast tour ends with an added silver (more like neon blue and green) lining known as the northern lights. So, pack your day pack and set out with us on one of the most incredible journeys of Iceland and come back with your cameras filled with incredible pictures of the glorious landscapes of Iceland and hearts filled with thrill, memories, and happiness.

Seljalandsfoss & Skógafoss waterfalls

The first stop on this journey will be Seljalandsfoss waterfall which is popular for an accessible hidden passage or cave behind it that offers a completely different view of the landscape. On the way to your first destination, if the day is clear, you will spot Eyjafjalljökull Volcano covered with glacial ice rising from behind the coastal mountains at the base, Hekla volcano and finally the group of islands known as the Westman Islands (a very popular place for puffin watching in the southern part of the country). After Seljalandsfoss, the tour will make a stop at Skógafoss waterfall where you will climb the staircase beside the waterfall and reach the top of it to enjoy the view from both the bottom and the top.

Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach

Reynisfjara black sand beach and Reynisdrangar basalt columns at sunset

After spending some time with the waterfalls, you will head to Sólheimajökull glacier to admire the beauty and grace of that larger than life glacier. You will also make an additional stop at the black sand beach of Reynisfjara. The beach looks like a beautiful monochrome-themed painting with the foamy white waves of the ocean crashing into the black sand beach. You will also be able to spot some beautiful basalt columns stacked on the beach and giant basalt column cave that accompanies them. The whole aura of the place is both calming and exciting at the same time.

Vík í Mýrdal

Vík í Mýrdal - South Iceland Travel Packages

Vík í Mýrdal will be your final stop in this tour of the south coast – the southernmost settlement of Iceland. Even though only 219 people inhabit the village, it is one of the largest settlements in the country spread across an area of about 70 kilometers. You find some beautiful little bakeries and restaurants in this village along with colorful houses, heartwarming locals, and a red-ceiling church. After the tour of the village, you will head back to the capital with your group and the guide.

Northern Lights – The Final Showdown

Northern Lights Iceland | Iceland Travel Guide, Honeymoon in Iceland, two people watching the northern lights in Iceland

The search for the northern lights will begin at the fall of the night if the weather allows. Note that aurora can only be spotted in a clear winter sky which is sometimes not the case. Our special team of experts will analyze the weather conditions and make plans according to so, you have nothing to worry about. Once the tour start, we will find a suitable open area where northern lights are fully visible for your enjoyment. There will be enough time for you to take commemorative and social media-worthy snaps. Since, this whole expedition will take place on a winter night in an open field with a possibility of high-velocity winds, make sure that you are well-covered in plenty of warm layers.
