Itinerary
Pickup at Seyðisfjörður Cruise Port
Your expert guide will greet you right at the cruise terminal in Seyðisfjörður, one of Iceland’s most picturesque fishing towns. After a brief introduction, you’ll board a comfortable private vehicle with complimentary onboard WiFi and begin your journey inland.
Drive Through Fjords and Mountain Passes
The tour begins with a scenic ascent from the fjord town, crossing the highland pass between Seyðisfjörður and Egilsstaðir. As you climb higher, enjoy panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, glacial rivers, and ancient lava flows. Keep your camera ready—every turn offers a new photo opportunity.

Rjúkandi Waterfall
Our first major stop is at Rjúkandi, a thundering waterfall set in the beautiful Jökuldalur valley. The walk to the falls is short but rewarding, and you’ll be able to get close enough to feel the cool spray on your face. This lesser-known gem provides a peaceful atmosphere and is ideal for landscape photography.

Drive Through the Jökuldalur Valley
We continue through the Jökuldalur (“Glacier Valley”), an impressive highland area shaped by volcanic activity and glacial erosion. Your guide will explain the area’s geological history, including the effects of recent changes in water levels due to hydroelectric projects, which helped reveal Stuðlagil Canyon.

Stuðlagil Canyon
Arriving at the main highlight of the day, you’ll visit the magnificent Stuðlagil Canyon—famous for its symmetrical basalt columns and turquoise glacial river. Depending on conditions and timing, you’ll either walk to the upper viewpoint for sweeping vistas or cross to the east side for a closer look and a short, scenic hike (approx. 30–45 minutes round trip). This canyon is one of Iceland’s best-kept secrets and has only recently become accessible to visitors.

Gufufoss Waterfall
If time allows, we may stop at Gufufoss on the return trip. Located just outside Seyðisfjörður, this waterfall is often compared to a miniature Skógafoss and offers a peaceful final moment of nature before returning to port.

Return to Seyðisfjörður Port
We’ll drive you back through the same stunning mountain roads to your cruise ship in Seyðisfjörður, ensuring you return well in time for departure. You’ll leave with lasting memories, incredible photos, and a deeper appreciation for Iceland’s eastern wilderness.
