About Tour

When the ace-travelers think about packing their bags and exploring the world, their checklist includes only the most exotic locations. Are you one of those ace-travelers looking for the rare and jaw-dropping locations in Iceland? If you are, we can introduce you to the Geldingadalur volcano Tour – the tour that will take you to the erupting volcano and will definitely not leave you disappointed.

Let us tell you the catch of the trip, without any more delay. The lava is currently active. Yes, you heard it right, you will get the experience of a lifetime, while you witness an active volcanic eruption and molten lava!

The much-awaited volcanic eruption began on March 19th, a few hours before midnight. This eruption lightened up the entire Reykjanes Peninsula. It began as a 700-meter-long fissure with a lava field spanning a square kilometer and it quickly transformed into an increasingly tall crater. The best part is that this is the most accessible eruption in the country since it has become a major tourist destination. So if you are already imagining yourself looking at this spectacular sight and looking for more information about the tour, read below.

Geldingadalur Erupting Volcano Tour

Lift all your spirits and be ready for the Geldingadalur volcano Tour, which can be joined as a small group tour or a private tour. Gleaming lava can be found running from Geldingadalur valley in molten rivers and spurting in majestic jets. As the tour kickstarts, our professional guide will pick you up in Reykjavík. Please note that we collaborate only with professionals, who know a particular location like the back of their hand. The guide will also tell you amazing anecdotes about the place. After this, you will head out for an adventure of a lifetime. The group will set out to hike up to Geldingadalur Valley. This takes about 2 hours in a beautiful landscape of old lava fields. After hiking up to the volcano, you will walk around it and see the hot lava spewing out. The experience comes with many emotions such as fear, thrill, and excitement. Most importantly, there lies sheer joy in experiencing the beauty of such locations. This is a new land in the making. We will hike around the Volcano and explore this newly made, ecstatic lava field. After admiring the views, we will find a great spot to sit down and relax. The group will enjoy the Icelandic chocolate, Hraun, which is Icelandic for Lava. You can bring along some snacks to enjoy at the beautiful location. Once we are done hiking around the newly made lava and watching the volcano from all angles, we will head back to the bus, getting back to Reykjavík.

As responsible tour organizers, we will always follow the Icelandic Rescue Team instructions. We take the ideal route every day to avoid the fumes according to the wind direction.

For tours during summer, bringing a light rain jacket and pants is in most cases enough protection.

Jeans are not recommended for outdoor trips as they become very heavy and cold when they get wet.
