Itinerary
We will meet at the cruise ship dock in Ísafjörður, a popular port of call for cruise ships. Once everyone is ready, we’ll begin our journey by driving out of town and passing through the Vestfjarðagöng mountain tunnel. Emerging from the tunnel, we’ll continue our adventure, passing through charming villages, picturesque fjords, and majestic mountains with sheer faces. Our destination is the magnificent Dynjandi waterfall.

Dynjandi waterfall
Located at the innermost point of the Arnar Fjörð, the surroundings of Dynjandi waterfall are truly breathtaking even before considering the waterfall itself.
A leisurely 15-minute walk from the parking area along the trails brings you closer to the dominating presence of the falls. Along the way, you’ll encounter several smaller falls, building anticipation for the main attraction. Even from a distance, the view is mesmerizing.
The Icelandic word “dynjandi” translates to thunderous, pouring, or resounding, and it perfectly captures the essence of these falls. Multiple smaller waterfalls converge to create the grand spectacle of Dynjandi.
With a distinct appearance, the falls span 30 meters in width at the top, gradually widening to 60 meters at the bottom. From afar, it resembles a delicate white bridal veil, while up close, the sheer scale of this magnificent series of waterfalls leaves a lasting impression.
Gemlufell Traditional Icelandic Farm
After the awe-inspiring sights at Dynjandi, we begin our journey back to Ísafjörður, but not without one final stop. Our next destination is the delightful Gemlufell Farm, a quintessential Icelandic working farm nestled in the picturesque coastal surroundings of Dýrar fjord. Life at this secluded homestead exudes tranquility, offering you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the serene ambiance while savoring complimentary tea, coffee, and a slice of the traditional Icelandic cake known as Hjónabandssæla. This delightful oat and rhubarb jam cake is fondly referred to as the “Happy Marriage cake.”
Following this stop, we will safely return you to your ship in Ísafjörður, where you can prepare for the continuation of your journey to your next destination.
