Hike to the Glacier:
Your adventure begins at the Sólheimajökull Glacier parking lot, where your guide will provide all necessary equipment, including crampons, harness, helmet, and optional hiking boots. After a quick briefing on safety and glacier etiquette, you’ll start a 40-minute hike to the edge of the glacier, walking over rocky terrain and taking in the dramatic Icelandic landscapes. The pace is relaxed, allowing you to enjoy the surroundings and take photos along the way.
Glacier Exploration:
Once on the glacier, you’ll experience the unique sensation of walking on ice. Your guide will show you glacial formations, including moulins (deep ice holes) and crevasses, and explain the glacier’s fascinating geology and history. This is a perfect opportunity to appreciate the raw beauty of Sólheimajökull and ask your guide any questions about the glacier and surrounding volcanic landscape.
Zip Line Adventure:
Next comes the highlight of the tour – the zip line over the glacier. You’ll be securely harnessed and guided for a thrilling ride, soaring above the ice with breathtaking views of Sólheimajökull and surrounding mountains. The small group size ensures everyone gets a turn, and guides rotate participants to maintain a 1:6 guide-to-guest ratio, providing a safe and personalized experience.
Professional Photo Package:
Throughout the tour, your professional glacier photographer will capture key moments of your adventure, including action shots on the glacier and zip line, candid moments with your group, and scenic landscape photography. At the end of the tour, each participant receives 5 personalized photos as part of the package. These high-quality images allow you to relive the adventure and share your unforgettable experience with friends and family.
