Tour Itinerary

The tour will begin near our husky kennel farm located between the lake Mývatn area and Akureyri. The huskies that will row your sled live here on the farm and you will get to meet them here. One sled takes on two people at a time which is pulled by 8-10 huskies at a time. Once you are familiarized with the route and the tour plan and get on with the overalls that are required for the ride, you will continue with the ride. This scenic ride will last for about 45-70 minutes depending upon how many picture-stops you make on the way and the rest of the things. We will cover almost 6-10 kilometers on the sled. Depending on the conditions of the snow, we may even travel to higher grounds that are more probable to have snow. A musher will accompany you on the ride and will explain all about dealing with the dogs, their nature, and how to treat them to the best of times. If you are interested and get the hang of it, you can even get to mush the sled in place of the musher. This tour will be all about trying new things and experiencing everything in a new way.

Once we are done with the sledding part of the tour, you are free to travel to the kennel with the rest of the crew and spend a little time cuddling and playing with the huskies that made your sledding party easy and enjoyable. Take a few more pictures, play around with other dogs and get to know more about them. The trip will end here and you can head back to the town afterward. The tour will last for about 2-2.5 hours including the time that you spend at the kennel. The tour is accessible to all including tourists with limited mobility, limited eyesight as well as wheelchair users.
