Itinerary
Your tour begins in the town of Heimaey, where you’ll meet your friendly local guide and get outfitted with your electric scooter, helmet, safety vest, and protective gear. After a quick safety introduction and instructions on operating the scooter, you’ll be ready to begin your scenic ride.
We head south toward Stórhöfði, the southernmost point of Heimaey and one of the windiest places in Europe — and also one of the best locations in Iceland to view puffins during the summer months. Along the way, we ride past volcanic cliffs, windswept hills, and dramatic coastal scenery.
Your guide will stop at several stunning viewpoints to allow time for photos, nature watching, and storytelling. You’ll learn about the unique history and daily life in the Westman Islands, shaped by centuries of fishing, volcanic eruptions, and a deep connection to nature.
Upon reaching Stórhöfði, we’ll spend some time observing puffins in their natural habitat (seasonal), watching them flutter around their burrows in the mossy cliffs. This is also a fantastic location to admire panoramic views of the surrounding islands and ocean.
On the way back, we continue to take in the beauty of the island, possibly spotting more seabirds or wildflowers along the path, while your guide shares local legends and fun facts.
After approximately 1.5 hours of riding and sightseeing, we return to the starting point with unforgettable memories of nature, birdlife, and Icelandic island life.
