After your return transfer to Reykjavik, there’s a short interval before the Northern Lights Tour begins. We recommend dining at the Blue Lagoon to fuel up for your Northern Lights adventure.
The Northern Lights tour commences at the following times:
- August 15th – August 24th at 22:30
- August 25th – October 15th at 21:30
- October 16th – March 14th at 20:30
- March 15th – April 14th at 21:30
- April 15th – April 25th at 22:30
The Northern Lights, a marvel of mystery and magic, are an unforgettable sight. Embarking on a Northern Lights hunt is synonymous with an Icelandic winter. Our seasoned operational team, with years of weather analysis experience, meticulously examines daily cloud and Northern Lights forecasts. We only set out when we anticipate a high likelihood of spotting them, ensuring a successful experience.
For an extraordinary adventure, join our tour and step aboard our modern buses, equipped with WiFi-connected computer tablets for each guest. These tablets provide real-time information with a GPS-synced Audio Guide available in 10 languages. Throughout the journey, our local hosts will ensure your comfort and gladly answer any questions about our unique country. USB outlets in each seat allow you to charge your devices, ensuring you capture every moment of this remarkable journey.

Itinerary
Pick up in Reykjavik
Our adventure begins at the Reykjavik Terminal, conveniently situated at Skógarhlíð 10. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure with a printed or digital copy of your ticket/voucher.
If you’ve opted for a hotel pickup with SmartBus™, please be at your chosen pickup location 30 minutes before the tour departs. Look for the Green SmartBus™, which will be outside your accommodation within 30 minutes of pickup.
The Blue Lagoon
Following a day of exploration across Iceland’s iconic destinations, the welcoming embrace of the Blue Lagoon awaits. As one of the world’s 25 wonders, it’s a place where the restorative powers of geothermal seawater create transformative spa experiences. Here, you can bask in the warm, mineral-rich, and healing waters of the Blue Lagoon, offering the ideal setting to contemplate the beauty of Iceland. You’ll have approximately 4 hours to savor this unique destination.
Northern Lights Expedition
In the evening, after returning to Reykjavik, we embark on a quest to witness the elusive aurora borealis.
Having experienced the Blue Lagoon, we return to Reykjavik, where you’ll join us for a Northern Lights adventure. Our expert Northern Lights guides are eager to share stories and insights about this enigmatic natural wonder.
Departing from our Reykjavik terminal at Skógarhlíð 10, we venture beyond the city’s glow to escape light pollution and increase our chances of seeing the captivating aurora borealis. On a successful night of Northern Lights hunting, you’ll witness the mesmerizing dance of these elusive lights. It’s a remarkable sight, as the aurora borealis is an unpredictable and truly magnificent phenomenon when it graces us with its presence.

What to bring
For the Blue Lagoon:
- Swimwear: Don’t forget your swimsuit for your dip in the Blue Lagoon.
- Towel: While the tour includes the use of a towel, having an extra one for added comfort is a good idea.
- Flip-Flops: Protect your feet from the sometimes hot and rough ground around the lagoon.
- Change of Clothes: Bring a change of clothes for your comfort after the Blue Lagoon visit.
For the Northern Lights Hunt:
- Warm Clothing: Iceland can get quite cold, especially at night. Layer up with warm clothing, including thermal wear, a good jacket, and gloves.
- Comfortable Footwear: Sturdy and waterproof shoes are advisable, as you may be walking on uneven terrain.
- Camera and Tripod: If you’re into photography, bring your camera and a tripod for capturing the Northern Lights.
- Extra Batteries: Cold temperatures can quickly drain camera batteries, so having spares is a good idea.
- Snacks and Water: Pack some snacks and a bottle of water to keep you fueled during the tour.
- Power Bank: Ensure your devices stay charged by bringing a power bank for your smartphone or camera.

Good to know
Meeting Point and Departure:
- Please arrive at our Reykjavik Terminal (Skógarhlíð 10) 15 minutes before departure with your voucher, either in digital or printed form.
Travel Details:
- Our spacious and comfortable coach accommodates approximately 40-65 passengers.
- While there is no onboard bathroom, rest stops with facilities are available during the journey.
- Enjoy free WiFi and USB charging ports on the bus.
Break Between Activities:
- There will be a short break between returning from the Blue Lagoon and commencing the Northern Lights Hunt.
Additional Information:
- No minimum number of participants required.
- The tour is suitable for ages 2 years and above.
In-Bus Audio Guide:
- For your convenience and environmental considerations, it’s best to bring your headphones. However, if you forget them, earphones are available for purchase on board.
Northern Lights Hunt:
- While we can’t guarantee the Northern Lights, our experienced team maximizes the chances by selecting prime locations. If the hunt is unsuccessful, you’re welcome to re-book until you witness the spectacle.
- In case the Northern Lights portion is canceled due to weather and you can’t reschedule, a refund for that part of the tour will be provided.

Most frequent questions and answers
For tours that state that they pick up from Reykjavík, we ask all our customers to send their pick up location at least 24 hours prior to the departure of their tour. We cannot be responsible if you do not provide your pick up location, we won’t be responsible if you miss your tour.
Please be at your chosen pickup location 30 minutes before the departure of the tour. Look for the Green Smartbus™ which will be outside your accommodation at within the 30 minutes of pickup.
Due to regulations of Reykjavik City, tour companies are allowed to stop at certain designated bus stop locations in the city centre to pick up passengers. It is stated on your voucher whether we will pick you up directly from your accommodation or from the bus stop.

You will receive a full refund if the tour gets cancelled due to weather.
If you go on the tour and do not see the northern lights, you may re-book the tour and continue coming back on subsequent tours until you have a night of successful northern lights.
