About Tour

Experience the ultimate treat with our small group Golden Circle and Blue Lagoon day tour, where we cover the most iconic attractions in Iceland while also including an admission ticket to the world-famous geothermal spa, the Blue Lagoon. Join us on our fully-equipped, premium minibus, led by experienced driver guides, as we embark on an exciting day trip to witness the most beautiful scenery Iceland has to offer, starting with the major highlights on the Golden Circle Route.

One of the many reasons why Iceland is so special is the Thingvellir National Park, a historic and geological location that has been designated as a UNESCO world heritage site. The Alþingi, the oldest parliament in the world, was established here in 930 AD. You will have the unique opportunity to walk between two continents and experience the stunning views of the natural rift valley.

Another highlight of the tour is the Geysir Geothermal Area, where geothermal powers are particularly active and propel steamy hot springs high into the sky. Witness the power and beauty of nature up close and personal.

We will also visit the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall, a unique and stunning waterfall that attracts admirers from all over the world.

Unlike many other Golden Circle tours, we include a stop at Kerið volcanic crater lake, where you can witness the striking contrasts between maroon, black, and mossy green colors down the slope and the turquoise water filling the crater.

Perhaps the most anticipated highlight of the day is getting to enjoy the therapeutic geothermal water at the Blue Lagoon, a world-renowned hot spring spa. Our tour offers the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind and soak in the warm, mineral-rich waters of the Blue Lagoon.

Þingvellir National Park

Þingvellir National Park - Golden Circle Iceland Tour

Thingvellir National Park holds immense geological and cultural significance, earning it UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 2004. Standing in between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, visitors can witness the exposed section of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, a divergent rift. As you walk down the path, you’ll encounter the stunning Öxarárfoss waterfall, dropping from a height of 13 meters (42.65 ft) through the ridge.

But that’s not all – Thingvellir is also the birthplace of the world’s first parliament, established in 930 A.D. Take in the panoramic view of the area from the viewpoint of Hakið and admire the elegant simplicity of the Þingvellir Church, consecrated in 1859. Nearby, the Almannagjá fissure features clear glacial water flowing down the lava walls, originating from Iceland’s second-largest glacier, Langjökull, passing through the porous lava fields beneath.

Geysir Geothermal Area

Golden Circle Tours, sunset at Geysir geothermal area in the Golden Circle

The Geysir area is an active geothermal region, boasting a range of fascinating features to explore. Visitors can witness steam vents, bubbling pits, and warm ponds, each displaying unique and varied colors. However, the star attraction of the area is undoubtedly the Strokkur geyser, which erupts every 5-10 minutes, sending water up to 20 meters (65.62 ft) high into the sky, creating a mesmerizing natural spectacle. Additionally, visitors can find the serene and quiet Great Geysir located nearby, offering a peaceful contrast to the energetic Strokkur.

A visitor center located nearby offers shops and several lunch options, ensuring that guests have everything they need to enjoy their visit. Safety is of utmost importance, so visitors are reminded to remain on the designated path, as the steamy pits and sizzling water can reach extremely high temperatures.

Gullfoss Waterfall

Iceland Must See - Sunset at Gullfoss waterfall in Golden Circle Iceland, midnight sun at Gullfoss

Gullfoss Waterfall, also referred to as the “Golden Waterfalls,” is a breathtaking sight to behold. It cascades down in two stages, first an 11-meter (36 ft) drop, followed by a 21-meter (68 ft) one, thundering down into the canyon below, surrounded by towering cliffs that rise up to 70 meters (230 ft). As you approach the waterfall, you will feel its mighty presence and be awestruck by the stunning visuals and intriguing history. The Hvítá river, or white river, originating from the Langjökull glacier, feeds the Gullfoss river. It is an awe-inspiring natural wonder that will leave you speechless.

Kerið Crater

Kerið Crater in Golden Circle in Iceland

Kerið, a remarkable crater lake, is a must-see attraction on Iceland’s Golden Circle Route. With its striking greenish lake water and colorful crater appearances on the slopes, Kerið is a treat for the eyes. The crater was formed around 3000 years ago during a volcanic eruption when the volcanic chamber collapsed onto itself after the magma depletion. The perfect inverted cone-shaped crater has a pathway built for visitors to see the site up close. An interesting fact is that Kerið crater has been a popular concert venue for many years, making it a unique location to enjoy music amidst natural surroundings.

The Blue Lagoon

Blue Lagoon Iceland, Book Blue Lagoon tickets and transfer

The Blue Lagoon, or ‘Bláa Lónið’ in Icelandic, is the highlight of your day. The milky blue water of this wonder is rich in silica, algae, salt, and other minerals that provide numerous healing benefits to the skin, including preventing premature aging.

Explore the beautifully designed surroundings and, during the winter months, catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights in the sky above the Blue Lagoon. Since opening in 1987, the Blue Lagoon has gained a global reputation for its therapeutic properties, attracting millions of visitors.

Your admission ticket is included in this full-day tour of the Golden Circle and Blue Lagoon, so all you need to bring is your swimsuit for a relaxing soak.
