To replicate a miniature volcano eruption, we superheat real lava from the 1918 Katla eruption and pour it into a showroom, creating an extraordinary and unforgettable spectacle. In an instant, the room warms up, and as the audience remains safely seated just a few feet from the flowing lava, the sensory experience of seeing, hearing, smelling, and feeling the intense heat is mesmerizing.
The show commences with a brief welcome from our host, followed by an educational video on Icelandic volcanism, nearby volcanoes, and a focus on the most significant volcanic events in Icelandic history and the volcanic risks surrounding the capital area.

How is the lava created?
In order to create a miniature volcano eruption, the show host will superheat real lava from the 1918 Katla eruption and once it is molten, they will pour it into a showroom full of audience to witness. The showroom instantly heats up and the audience can safely observe the mesmerizing sight, sound, smell and heat of the flowing lava, making for an unforgettable and sensational experience.

- You can purchase a “backstage tour” as an optional add-on, although it’s not included.
- Handcrafted lava-themed souvenirs, including some created on-site from our own lava, are available for purchase on-site.
- VIP lounge and balcony view seats can be reserved for an additional fee, suitable for individuals and groups of up to 35 people.

- We offer wheelchair accessibility for your convenience.
- To ensure a timely start, we recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the show begins. Take this opportunity to explore our stunning lava-themed interior, browse our gift shop, and maybe even enjoy a beverage before the show.
- The showroom can become quite warm when the lava is flowing. We suggest that guests remove some layers of clothing before the show. While the experience is safe, we recommend that pregnant women, individuals with infants, and those with cardiovascular conditions sit toward the back or near the exits for added caution.
- Safety goggles should be worn at all times during the show when lava is present, including when it is cooling and solidifying. Your safety is our priority.
