About Tour - Active Volcano Helicopter Tour from Reykjavik
Embark on an unforgettable adventure as you take a helicopter up to the skies from Reykjavik, bound for the awe-inspiring active volcano area on the Reykjanes Peninsula. Bearing witness to this natural wonder firsthand is an experience of unparalleled marvel and an absolute must-do while in Iceland.
The first eruption, which commenced on March 19th, 2021, persisted for an impressive six months, sculpting a vast lava plateau adorned with numerous craters. Remarkably, this eruption marked the first on the Reykjanes Peninsula since the 14th century and followed three weeks of over 50,000 earthquakes in the region.
Subsequently, on August 3rd, 2022, a new eruption took hold, giving rise to a nascent crater and an infusion of fresh lava onto the already expansive lava plateau.
On July 10th, 2023, a new eruption started and this tour will take you to see that eruption. See an active volcano up close with this volcano helicopter tour.
The tour lasts approximately 40 minutes, offering an unforgettable adventure above the active volcano. Please note that the tour does not include a landing at the eruption site. Get ready for an incredible experience that will leave you in awe of Iceland’s active volcano.
