Borgarnes town is located at a distance of 75 kilometers from Reykjavík City Centre and is often the first stop on a trip around Iceland or to Snæfellsnes Peninsula. You can take the ring road or route 1 to reach here. You can also plan a detour through Glymur, which is the second tallest waterfall in Iceland. You can hike to the top of the waterfall which stands at a height of 650 feet. There are three other well known waterfalls near the town of Borgarnes, Glanni, Hraunfossar, and Barnafossar. The waterfalls are serene and turbulent. Hikers and explorers love these waterfalls for their aesthetic beauty.

Skallagrímsgarður is a small public park situated in the middle of Borgarnes. You can sit and relax here for some rejuvenation away from the tensed mainstream life. There are so many different kinds of birds that you would find here. There is a swimming pool in the Skallagrímsgarður park where you can make a quick stop. Snæfellsnes Peninsula is another amazing place that you can explore around Borgarnes. Borgarens is a popular travel destination in all seasons. Snow-capped mountains and solid glaciers are truly captivating in winters. Ice skating and other snow-related sports can also be played around November to January. Packing a sturdy jacket and boots with an excellent grip is mandatory in any season. They would keep you warm and help in covering long distances on uneven grounds and slopes. Do follow weather forecasts consistently. Winters in Iceland can be bad as some frequent snowstorms and tides can get dangerous. Make sure you pack the snacks high on vitamin D as Iceland is low on sunshine during winters.
