Basic Information

With a clear sky and the sprawling farm, Húsafell gets the attention of travelers around the world throughout the year. Situated in Borgarfjörður, West Iceland, this place offers a magnificent natural beauty with a lot of adventure activities. Devoured into a river-crossed valley, with vast lava fields on one side and Kaldá River on the other, this beautiful place is a hub to camps, cottages, geothermal swimming pools, and more. Since it is situated near many tourist attractions of West Iceland, Húsafell has become a central tourist spot to stay and explore the nearby places. If you travel a few kilometres out of Húsafell, you will get a glimpse of Langjökull glacier. Known as the woodland oasis of West Iceland, Húsafell is one of the oldest settlements in the region. At Húsafell, you will find dense woodlands, glaciers, waterfalls, and rugged lava.

Surrounded by colorful birch and bushes, the picturesque Húsafell offers a view of nature’s true beauty. It is the ideal place to capture the beautiful landscapes with mountains, waterfalls and rivers, on your camera. Being a secluded place, far from any coast, this site provides a unique experience. The trout lakes and rivers make the traveling experience more adventurous and livelier. Home to popular artists Jóhannes S. Kjarval and Páll Guðmundsson, Húsafell is an inspiring place for emerging artists. You can take a warm and soothing dip in the geothermal swimming pool. On a clear day without clouds, you will see the wide farm and the giant mountains. When you look at the far end, you will see the top of milky white glaciers.

In Húasfell you will find a campground, restaurant, shop, great playground for the kids and a swimming pool. We highly recommend that you take a warm and soothing dip in the geothermal swimming pool. When driving to Húsafell, you will pass  Barnafoss and Hraunfossar waterfalls. The water in Hraunfossar originates from 1 km long lava field and provides an incredible view.
