Drive through Lava Fields & Scenic Coastline

Your adventure begins with a drive through the Reykjanes Peninsula, a geological wonderland shaped by the meeting of two tectonic plates. This raw and rugged region is home to active volcanoes, steaming geothermal fields, lava tubes, moss-covered lava plains, and surreal coastal cliffs. As we navigate this alien terrain, your expert guide will share insights into the science, history, and mythology that make this UNESCO Global Geopark so unique. It’s a visual and educational journey into the beating volcanic heart of Iceland.

Seltún Geothermal Area

Step into the vibrant geothermal zone of Seltún, where steam hisses from colorful mineral-laden hills and bubbling mud pools churn with Earth’s energy. This dramatic landscape — painted in shades of red, yellow, and green — is as photogenic as it is fascinating. You’ll walk along boardwalks that meander through the steamy terrain, pausing to take in the smell of sulfur and the sounds of boiling earth beneath your feet. Seltún offers a real-time glimpse into the geothermal power that fuels much of Iceland.

Fagradalsfjall Volcano Hike

The tour continues to one of the most talked-about natural wonders of modern Iceland: Fagradalsfjall. After three spectacular eruptions between 2021 and 2023, this volcano has become a must-see destination for nature lovers and scientists alike. Although it currently rests, it remains an active system with potential for future eruptions — and the landscape tells the story of its recent activity in stunning detail.

Depending on weather and conditions, you’ll walk a short trail to a viewpoint overlooking the cooled lava fields and eruption craters. With its accessible terrain and non-explosive nature, Fagradalsfjall is considered one of the safest volcanoes in the world to visit. It’s a humbling experience to stand on freshly-formed Earth, where fire and rock met just months or years before.

Visit to Grindavík Volcano Village

After witnessing the geological power of Iceland, we visit Grindavík — a quiet fishing town that has been deeply affected by recent volcanic activity. Once a bustling harbor town known for its saltfish and lobster, Grindavík now stands as a symbol of Icelandic resilience. You’ll have time to walk around, take photos of the lava-scarred landscape, or stop for refreshments (optional). Your guide will share stories of the town’s evacuation and rebuilding efforts, giving you a human perspective on living next to an active volcano.

Blue Lagoon

Your day concludes with relaxation at Iceland’s most iconic destination: the Blue Lagoon. Nestled in a lava field, this world-famous geothermal spa is renowned for its opaque, milky-blue waters rich in silica and minerals said to nourish the skin. Soak in the soothing 38–40°C (100–104°F) waters while surrounded by black volcanic rock, soft steam, and modern architecture that blends seamlessly into the land.

This experience includes premium entry, a silica mud mask, use of a towel and robe, and one complimentary drink from the swim-up bar. Whether you float quietly beneath the open sky or sip prosecco while submerged in the lagoon, this is the perfect way to unwind after a day of volcanic discovery.
