Itinerary
The tour will start with a visit to one of the most beautiful lava caves in Iceland – Raufarholshellir Lava Tube. It is a captivating world as you travel under the lava field to see it closely how volcanoes created Iceland. This will be a hike to remember, as you walk through an ancient underground lava tube. The hiking trip to the lava cave will deliver an ancient appeal. After visiting the lava cave, we will head on to visit a local cafe bakery for the lunch break. Aroun 12.00 we will head on to explore the top attarctions in the Golden Circle; Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall and Geysir geothermal area.
First, you will visit the Thingvellir National Park. Þingvellir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the located where the oldest existing parliament in the world was started. In Þingvellir you can also see where the tectonic paltes of America and Europe meet with a clearly visible rift valley. It is a very unique thing to witness. You will also learn about the geology of the National PArk and the ways Viking chieftains and other figures would hold meetings or make announcements in Þingvellir. Your guide will inform you about the explanation behind the formation of Iceland and the stunning locations that you will visit one after another.
Once you complete exploring in the National Park, you will leave for Geysir geothermal area. We will walk through the lava fields to see heated water gurgle, bubble and erupt up in the air up to 25 meters high.
After visiting Geysir, we will head on to the third iconic location of the Golden Circle. Gulfoss, the golden waterfall, is often called the queen of Icelandic waterfalls, and you will get to see why when you visit. It is a magnificent sight to admire, and the power of the waterfall can in now ay be captured on a photo.
This adventurous day will end in Reykjavik where you will get dropped off at one of the drop off locations. You can find your best pick up and drop off locations in the drop down menu when booking the tour.
