Good to know
- Pickup Information: Pickup starts at 9:00 AM from your hotel or a nearby meeting point in Reykjavík. Please allow up to 30 minutes for the process.
- Pickup Locations: Available from designated pickup points in Reykjavik. You will find the pick up points in the booking process.
- Return Time: The tour concludes with a return to Reykjavík around 6:00 PM (18:00) on the second day.
- Gear Rental: If you don’t have all the necessary gear, you can rent hiking shoes, waterproof jackets, and pants when booking your tour. Rentals must be pre-booked as they are not available on location.
- Accommodation: Includes one night at Hotel Borgarnes or a similar standard hotel.

Itinerary:
Day 1 - Snæfellsnes Peninsula
Your adventure begins with a pickup from your chosen location in Reykjavík at 9:30 AM. Please note that the pickup process may take up to 30 minutes.
The journey starts in Borgarnes, a charming village rich in Viking history. From there, you’ll visit Gerðuberg, a striking wall of basalt columns, followed by Ytri Tunga, a golden-sand beach renowned for its lively seal colonies.
Next, you’ll explore Búðir, a picturesque hamlet surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. The tour continues to Arnarstapi, a quaint fishing village famous for its dramatic stone arch, Gatklettur, where you’ll pause for a delightful lunch break.
Afterward, delve into the mystical Vatnshellir Lava Cave, an 8,000-year-old underground marvel that inspired Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth. If you choose not to join the cave tour, you can explore the Malarrif Visitor Center and its iconic lighthouse at no additional cost. Time permitting, you may also visit the rugged Lóndrangar cliffs.
Later, you’ll visit Djúpalónssandur, a black-sand beach scattered with remnants of a 1948 shipwreck. Try your hand at lifting the traditional stones used to test the strength of local fishermen.
The day concludes with check-in at Borgarnes Hotel (or a similar accommodation) for a comfortable night’s rest. If you’re traveling during the winter months (late September to early April) and the conditions are right, you may also have the chance to witness the captivating Northern Lights, a magical display of nature’s beauty.

Day 2 - Glacier Lagoon, Diamond Beach & Ice Cave
Begin your day with a hearty breakfast before heading to the world-famous Mount Kirkjufell, a photographer’s paradise and a notable filming location from Game of Thrones. Nearby, a charming waterfall adds the perfect touch to this iconic landscape.
Next, stop in the quaint town of Grundarfjörður to grab snacks or necessities, followed by a short break at the local gas station.
Your journey continues to the stunning Hraunfossar Waterfalls, where cascading streams flow over lava fields. Here, you’ll enjoy lunch with breathtaking views of this natural wonder.
The tour then takes you to Reykholt, a site rich in history and once home to the celebrated Icelandic writer and historian Snorri Sturluson, who penned many of the nation’s legendary sagas.
Later, you’ll have the option to unwind at the Krauma Geothermal Baths (additional fee applies), where hot geothermal waters are perfectly blended with cold glacial water for a unique and soothing experience.
If you choose to skip the baths, your adventure includes a visit to Sturlureykir Horse Farm, where you’ll meet friendly Icelandic horses and learn about the farm’s geothermal heating system. You’ll also explore Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring, with its dramatic bubbling water and steamy vistas.
As your adventure winds down, you’ll return to Reykjavík, arriving around 6:05 PM, with memories of Iceland’s incredible landscapes, history, and culture.

We recommend arriving at least one day before your tour to avoid potential delays. If your flight arrives early (4-6:30 am), you might be able to join the tour, but there’s a risk of missing it if there are any delays.
While many of our hotels are in ideal locations for Northern Lights viewing, we can’t guarantee sightings as the aurora is a natural phenomenon influenced by weather. The best chances are from September to March, away from city lights.
We provide waterproof jackets, pants, and hiking boots for rent. You can book these items under “Extras” during your booking, or through our customer portal up to 24 hours before the tour.
Expect to drive around 300 km (186 miles) per day, spending approximately 4-5 hours in the car, with several sightseeing and break stops.
The tour is for all ages above the minimum age requirement. If an activity isn’t suitable, you can opt-out and explore other options, with the guide assisting you.
One small backpack and one piece of luggage up to 20 kg (44 lbs). Larger items require pre-booked storage in Reykjavik.
Breakfast is included at the hotel. Lunch and dinner are not, but your guide will find good restaurants for breaks.
Yes, solo travelers are welcome. You can choose a single room or share with another traveler of the same gender.
You’ll stay in comfortable country hotels with twin rooms. Double and triple rooms are available on request. Single rooms can be booked for an additional fee.
If traveling in winter (mid-Oct to mid-Apr), we recommend crampons for icy paths. These can be purchased when booking.

A single supplement is available if you want to have your own room, but you are not required to pay a single supplement. If you are a single traveler and do not wish to book a single room, you’ll be roomed with another traveler of the same gender.
In the rare case that we will have to cancel the tour because of extreme weather, road conditions or other factors, we will assist you with rebooking to another date or provide a full refund.
The tour can be cancelled up to 48 hours from the departure time with 85% of the total price refunded.
However, we would kindly as you to cancel the tour as soon as you know that you won’t be able to participate in it. The multi day tours require a lot of bookings on our half that needs to be cancelled in time (accommodation, activities, meals and more).

The luggage limit for this tour is one suitcase – maximum 20 kg.
If you have more or heavier luggage with you, you will need to book storage for the surplus luggage before you arrive, there is a small fee for using this facility. Luggage storage in Reykjavík can be added during the booking process of your order in the extras section.

You will also find a tablet in the bus with information about the northern lights and how to photograph them.
For winter tours in Iceland, wear warm clothing as first layer and waterproof outdoor jacket and pants as a second layer. Hiking boots with high ankle protection is ideal for the glacier hike and ice cave experience. You will get crampons to put on your boots before you go to the glacier. If you do not have hiking boots, you have to rent them at the time of booking. A hat and gloves are also ideal for the glacier tours.
Yes, you need sturdy hiking boots for the glacier hike. They have to have hard sole and be tight around the ankle. If you don’t have hiking boots, you can rent them in all sizes when booking the tour. It is also possible to rent the shoes at the glacier hiking location.
This is always a personal choice and depends on your physical health at the time of the glacier hike. We have had pregnant women on this glacier hike but not all pregnancies are the same. We recommend that you read the description of the tour to get a good idea and ask your doctor about it.
