Keep in mind that this location is a 5-hour drive from Reykjavik, so we recommend staying at accommodations nearer to the meeting point for your convenience.

To ensure a seamless experience, we suggest arriving 15 minutes before your scheduled tour. Restrooms are not available at the glacier, so taking advantage of the facilities beforehand is advisable. Your guide will be waiting across from the restrooms in the bus parking lot. Look for our 4×4 vehicle among the other companies for a hassle-free start to your adventure.

4×4 Jeep Adventure to Vatnajokull Glacier

After approximately 10 minutes, we’ll veer off onto an F-Road, navigating the rugged terrain on our way to the glacier. The journey from the road to the glacier parking lot typically takes around 20-30 minutes. En route, your knowledgeable guide will share the rich history of the surrounding area, enhancing your experience with a captivating narrative as you traverse an ancient glacier plain.

Hike to the Glacier

Upon reaching the glacier parking lot, your guide will distribute the necessary equipment for the Summer Zip Line + Glacier Hiking tour. This kit comprises crampons, an ice axe, a harness, a helmet equipped with a headlamp, and hiking boots if you’ve opted to rent them. Once everyone is geared up, embark on a leisurely 30-minute hike to the glacier’s edge. The trek is generally straightforward, taking you over flat yet slightly rocky terrain throughout. We always accommodate the pace of our guests, allowing you to savor the journey at your own speed as your guide leads the way.

Glacier Hike to the Zip Line

Once you reach the glacier’s edge, strap on your crampons and step onto Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier. Walking on the ice is a unique sensation that might feel a bit strange at first, but by the end of the tour, you’ll be reluctant to take off your crampons! Listen to the crunch beneath your feet as you march forward, following your guide towards the moulin, where you’ll take a ride on the zip line. Along the way, your guide will point out different formations on the glacier called moulins, which are deep glacial holes. As you take in the stark landscape, you’ll feel like you’ve entered a whole new world.
