Our own private tours are led by our local guides, born and raised in Iceland.

Pétur is our main guide and a guest favourite. He is full of energy, always in a good mood, and happiest when he's showing people his country.

Jói is our youngest guide, active and always up for an extra stop if the group wants one.

How to choose a private tour

Private tours suit travellers who want flexibility: a later start, extra stops for photos, or more time at one place and less at another. They cost more than a shared group tour, since you are paying for a dedicated guide and vehicle rather than sharing the cost with other passengers.

Think about what you actually want to see before booking. A private tour can cover the same ground as a group tour, such as the Golden Circle or the South Coast, or go further off the main routes to places a coach cannot reach.

Ask what vehicle is used, since a private jeep can reach highland roads and mountain tracks that a standard car cannot, especially outside summer. If you are travelling with young children or anyone with mobility needs, say so when booking so the guide can plan accordingly.

A local travel agency in Iceland can also combine a private tour with transfers, hotel bookings or a longer itinerary, so the whole trip is arranged through one point of contact rather than several separate bookings.
