Itinerary
Landmannalaugar Hiking Tour – Explore Iceland’s Colorful Highlands
Discover one of Iceland’s most breathtaking hiking destinations with our Landmannalaugar Day Hike, a guided adventure through the vibrant and geologically rich landscapes of the Icelandic Highlands. Known for its rainbow-colored rhyolite mountains, steaming geothermal hot springs, and dramatic lava fields, Landmannalaugar is a must-visit for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts.
Why Visit Landmannalaugar?
Landmannalaugar is located in the heart of Iceland’s Fjallabak Nature Reserve, a region shaped by centuries of volcanic activity and glacial erosion. The result is a surreal landscape filled with contrasts — from black obsidian fields to steaming vents, from lush green moss to rust-red mountain slopes. Highlights include:
Laugahraun Lava Field – a striking flow of black lava formed in 1477
Mt. Brennisteinsalda – known as the “Sulfur Wave,” this multicolored mountain is painted with red iron, green moss, yellow sulfur, and volcanic ash
Graenagil Gorge – nicknamed the “Green Gorge” for its uniquely colored rhyolite walls
Natural Hot Spring – unwind after your hike with a relaxing dip in a geothermal pool
This hidden gem offers some of the most scenic hiking trails in Iceland, far from the crowds of more touristy destinations. It’s also the starting point of the world-famous Laugavegur Trail.
