About Tour

Under the bright blue sky, ice chunks floating all around you, paddling through icy water with seabirds crossing over your head and a picturesque panoramic view! Not only this, but Vatnajökull National Park also has much more than this to offer. The magnificence of this national park will leave you speechless and you will want to come back with unforgettable experiences, and memories to cherish forever. So, if you are planning to head to the glacier lagoons on the south coast, then jot down one of the foremost things that you should go for, and that is Kayaking.

Solheimajokull glacier lagoon kayak

Heinabergslón Glacier Kayaking

Iceland’s largest icecap, Vatnajökull, has approximately 30 glaciers that are flowing out from the icecap; it is one of the largest in Europe. Heinabergslón, a freshwater lagoon is a hidden gem of Iceland and is much less crowded than the other glacier lagoons like Jokulsarlon. 8 km north-east off of Route 1, down the gravel road, Heinabergslón Lagoon with floating icebergs awaits you. The icebergs are much more stable than the other adjoining lagoon, with fewer chances of flipping upside down. This makes it completely safe for kayaking.

Imagine paddling through the mirror-like water of Heinabergslón Glacier Lagoon with reflections of the surrounding mountains and glacier, it is indeed an ultimate way to experience the majesty of nature. A close-up view of majestic icebergs floating in the Heinabergslón Lagoon reflecting natural hues of blue, and gray, is something you cannot afford to miss. This heavenly place is perfect or we can say “paradise” for photographers and travel enthusiasts. When you reach the lagoon, you will witness an excellent view of Vatnajokull. Expect less traffic and you will have your own time to get closer to the chunks of ice!
