Reykjadalur hot spring valley
Reykjadalur, a beautiful valley filled with hot springs, is located just 45 kilometers outside of the capital city, near the small town of Hveragerði. This town is situated near Mount Hengill, an extinct volcano that last erupted over 120,000 years ago. To get to the valley, you’ll have to pass through Hveragerði, which is a must-see destination on this tour.
Most people hike the slopes of Rjúpnabrekkur to reach the valley, but on this tour, you’ll get to ride there on horseback. The slopes are quite steep, so the ride promises to be thrilling and fun. On the way to the valley, you’ll pass by Djúpagil canyon, where a stunning waterfall drops directly into the valley. In just a few more minutes, you’ll arrive at your destination.
Once in the valley, you’ll find several hot pools and a borehole near the hot water river, each with its own unique temperature. You’re sure to find the perfect pool to soak in and relax after your ride. There are also some incredible mud pools along the path, but be careful when stepping into them.
In Reykjadalur Valley, we will have the opportunity to soak in hot springs and luxuriate in a balmy stream. As we journey back to the farm, you can take in stunning vistas of the landscape, including the picturesque Djúpagilsfoss waterfall. Additionally, we will be treated to breathtaking views of the Hveragerði village, Ölfus area, and even the coastline, where, weather permitting, we might catch a glimpse of the Westman Islands. This is an exceptional chance to fully immerse yourself in the diverse and remarkable beauty of Icelandic nature.
