If you look at it from some distance, the entire area of the waterfall seems in heart shape. This lends a charming effect to Svöðufoss, a favorite of the photographers. Falling in the river Laxá, this waterfall will fill you with calm. You can experience the true beauty of the countryside in its raw form at Svöðufoss. It is recommended to visit here on a sunny day. Svöðufoss Waterfall is situated in the south of the small village called the Rif. If you are coming from the west part or tip of the Snæfellnes Peninsula, driving the road Útnesvegur Nr. 574, you will cross the tiny village Hellissandur and then the Rif. There is a sign and a road on your right that will lead you to the waterfall Svöðufoss just after you pass the Rif. There are not many guided tours that will take you to Svöðufoss waterfall but you can choose to go on a private tour and ask the tour guide to stop here. Svöðufoss is also the perfect location for your self drive around Snæfellsnes. This way you can spend as long time as you want by the waterfall. A two-wheel-drive car is an ideal option to rent with a group of friends.

Snæfellsnes Peninsula is an expansive spot to explore. You would find here all sorts of indulgences. It is surrounded by large lava fields on one side and the Atlantic ocean on the other. This adds massively to the charm of the place as you can lose yourself in the vastness of the sea under the clear sky. Öndverðarnes is one of the fascinating places located on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Covered with lava and craters from eruptions that happened thousands of years ago, this place has a wild charm. Another exciting place near Svöðufoss is Rauðfeldsgjá. Situated south of the glacier Snæfellsjökull, it is a deep, high, and narrow ravine amidst the cliffs. Explorers who want to experience an adrenaline rush can have a good time. When looked at from a distance, it looks like a small crack in the berg, opened enough for people to enter and see. The hike here is not an easy one and if you have breathing problems, it is highly advisable to avoid climbing down to the ravine.
