The Ring Road, Route 1, is a loop of about 1,320 km around Iceland. A Ring Road tour takes you all the way round: the waterfalls and black beaches of the South Coast, the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, the East Fjords, Stuðlagil canyon, Lake Mývatn and the north, and back to Reykjavík through West Iceland. Yes, it is open all year. Storms can close parts of it for a few hours or a day, mostly in the north and east, which is why our winter tours keep some flexibility in the plan.

Our guided tours go anti-clockwise, starting with the Golden Circle and the South Coast. Both directions work. It matters more that the days are planned around the weather.
June to August for long days and all roads open. September and May are quieter. October to April for snow, ice caves and the Northern Lights.
